Christian Bale Admits He Still Hasn’t Bothered Seeing Batfleck In Action

We’d argue that Christian Bale is one of only two people to have embodied a definitive cinematic version of Batman, and his work on the Dark Knight trilogy with Christopher Nolan redefined what a superhero film could be.

With that in mind, the emergence of Ben Affleck’s interpretation – only a handful of years after The Dark Knight Rises hit cinemas – raises some interesting questions. Questions like “what the hell does Bale make of the new bloke’s interpretation?”

The subtly snarky answer is that he straight-up hasn’t bothered checking out Batman Vs Superman, Suicide Squad, Justice League, or any other of Affleck’s recent appearances.

Speaking to the Happy Sad Confused podcast late last month, Bale said “yes, I’m interested, my son seemed like he was really interested, but then I realised he just wanted to see the trailer and that was it.

“And, you know, I tend to go see films that they want to see.”

Despite appearing in one of the most notable superhero franchises of all time, Bale said he’s just not that into the genre.

“People seem surprised at that, I don’t know why, but I’ve not seen any of the Avengers films or any of those films at all,” Bale said.

“I hear they’re very good, but I’m quite happy just hearing they’re very good.”

In addition to his apparent non-opinion on Affleck, Bale said he’s still unable to watch The Dark Knight Rises, as the memory of the tragic Aurora cinema shooting is still too strong.
