The ‘Charlie’s Angels’ Reboot That Literally No One Asked For Casts Kristen Stewart

Welp, it’s official: Hollywood is out of ideas. Like, it’s been out of ideas for a long, long time (enough with the Fantastic Four films!) but now it’s so out of ideas that it’s rebooting ideas that have already been rebooted several times, e.g. Charlie’s Angels.

Elizabeth Banks has signed on to not only direct a movie reboot of the iconic ’70s series but will also star as Bosley, a role portrayed by Bill Murray and the late Bernie Mac in the noughties rendition. So I’ll give her this, at least she’s bending gender norms with this one.

And as for our three angels, one of them will be played by, wait for it, Kristen Stewart.

Along with Naomi Scott, who is starring as Jasmine in Disney‘s upcoming Aladdin remake, and British newcomer Ella Balinska.

Charlie’s Angels, for me, is one of the original brands to celebrate the empowered woman since its debut in the ’70s,” said Banks in a statement. “This film honors the legacy of Charles Townsend and his agency while introducing a new era of modern and global Angels. I couldn’t be more excited to work with Kristen, Naomi and Ella to bring this chapter to fans around the world.”

Banks penned the latest draft of the script with Jay Basu (The Girl in the Spider’s Web), working off of earlier drafts by Craig Mazin and Semi Chellas.

The actress is also producing the flick with husband Max Handelman via their Brownstone Productions banner, as well as Doug Belgrad, who is co-financing through his 2.0 Entertainment, and Elizabeth Cantillon.

Sony has set a Sept. 27, 2019 release for the movie so you’ve got that long to gird your fkn loins.
