The queen herself has blessed the project with the rights to her songs so expect to hear ‘All By Myself’, ‘My Heart Will Go On’, and ‘I’m Alive’ plus more.

But who shall take on such an ambitious task? France‘s Valérie Lemercier, the actor turned director, will helm the film as well as star as Dion.

Per VarietyThe Power of Love will take us from Dion’s birth and upbringing in 1960s Quebec right through to her extraordinary career. It will also feature her family and her relationship with her late manager and husband René Angélil.

The film will come from French studio Gaumont, who said the movie will be“in the vein of ‘Rocket Man’ and ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.”

In other words, expect some big things.

The film is slated for a French release come December 2, 2020. Variety has described it as “one of the highest-profile French films slated for 2020” – cue the awards buzz.

Since its release, Bohemian Rhapsody has won the Golden Globe for best picture and best lead actor. The Freddie Mercury biopic is also nominated for five Academy Awards including best picture, best actor, and best sound mixing.

Rocket Man, which stars Kingsman‘s Taron Egerton in the lead role, is a musical biopic about Sir Elton John.

Much alike Bohemian Rhapsody, Rocket Man traces John’s life and rise to stardom. The film gets its title from John’s song of the same name which was released on his 1972 album Honky Château.

Rocket Man will fly into Aussie cinemas May 30, 2019.
