NOOO: Channel 10 Has Binned Its ‘Catfish Australia’ Show Hosted By Casey Donovan

In a bit of WELP: Network 10 has reportedly made the decision to bin Catfish Australia from its Pilot Week lineup.

The show was set to be hosted by Australian Idol star Casey Donovan, a catfish victim, and The Feed‘s Patrick Abboud. Way back when it was first announced, 10 said the show would “come to the aid of potential online dating victims, and face off against the real identities behind online scam profiles.”

A spokesperson for 10 confirmed the news to TV Blackbox, saying: “We swear, we didn’t Catfish you!” Those are the actual words. “Unfortunately, Catfish Australia is no longer part of our 2019 Pilot Week schedule.”

But wait, there’s more because it appears the show was cancelled because [checks notes]: “We cast a line, but didn’t have the right bait to catch you a catfish in time.”

Ah.

In other words, casting talent was not easy… perhaps because not a lot of people out there are eager to openly admit they have been / are in the process of being catfished.

Anywho, there are still four other shows to look out for come 10’s Pilot Week. There’s Sydney’s Crazy Rich Asians, and I feel as though all the necessary information is in its title. There’s also the reality TV show I am… Roxy!, which follows the extra as hell Roxy Jacenko through her every day life; Part Time Privates, a show about two mothers at a local primary school who decide to start a private investigation business; and My 80-Year-Old Flatmate and it actually sounds quite wholesome. In it, older Aussies offer cheap rent to struggling millennials in exchange for some company and help around the house. Sounds like a quality bonding experience.
