This week in Brooklyn Nine-Nine season six news, we’re talking about the #MeToo episode.

As we learned earlier this year, showrunner Dan Goor revealed a #MeToo episode was in development. The announcement came months after Crews shared his allegations of sexual assault against high-profiled Hollywood agent Adam Venit.

At the time, Goor said he couldn’t make any promises about the episode but “we’re really interested in trying to do a #MeToo story.”

Nine-Nine star Andy Samberg ensured: “We are not going to do it unless we have the right take that does it justice.”

Speaking to TVLine this weekend, Melissa Fumero – who plays Amy Santiago – not only confirmed the episode but revealed it’s focused on her character.

“I’ve never done an episode like this,” Fumero told TVLine. “You see a side of her that you’ve never seen before.”

The episode was directed by co-star Stephanie Beatriz AKA Rosa Diaz and written by Lang Fisher who has writing credits on The Mindy Project, 30 Rock, and The Onion News Network.

“I think it would have been nerve-wracking if it had been someone else, or someone I didn’t know,” Fumero said of Beatriz’s directing. “It was really wonderful to have my friend directing, where we already have a shorthand… It was so amazing to just have that trust, to feel protected and safe.”

Beatriz announced her directorial debut earlier this month on social media sharing she was “truly honoured I got to direct an episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine.”

Though Beatriz didn’t reveal any details from the episode she did write she was “super excited” for fans to see it.
