Telling the story of Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson (Nicole Kidman), whose allegations of sexual assault against Fox News chief Roger Ailes (John Lithgow) saw him resign in disgrace, Bombshell promises to highlight a key period in the burgeoning #MeToo movement.

Charlize Theron also stars as Megyn Kelly, the Fox host who was vilified by presidential hopeful Donald Trump in the lead-up to the climactic 2016 election.

The Australian connection doesn’t end with Kidman, as Margot Robbie appears as a fictitious associate producer in Ailes’ orbit.

Director Jay Roach‘s flick, due in cinemas December 20, isn’t the first take on this particular issue. The Loudest Voice, starring Russell Crowe as Ailes and Naomi Watts as Carlson (again with the Australians), is currently up on Stan.
