The Latest, Gruesome ‘Black Mirror’ S4 Trailer Includes A S2 Easter Egg

There’s long been a number of fan theories postulating how the Black Mirror episodes are connected in the same universe, and the latest season four trailer, for ‘Black Museum‘, absolutely plays into it.

Black Museum’s synopsis reads, “A lone traveller stumbles across a tourist-friendly crime museum with a shocking star attraction”, but we don’t know what that is… yet. Safe to say it’s going to be something gruesome, because as museum curator Rolo Haynes says, “You can inflict pain on yourself, but not terror.”

TBH, this is looking like more Saw x American Horror Story than Black Mirror, but moving on.

The objects on display in the museum are artefacts from crimes, and include a mugshot of season two criminal Victoria Skillane from ‘White Bear‘, as well as one of the masks with the mysterious white logo.

“If it did something bad, chances are, it’s in here,” says Rolo. “There’s a sad, sick story behind most everything in here.”

This one is directed by Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker, so it makes sense he might want to reference his earlier work. Fans have been pointing out references to previous episodes for years (e.g. ‘The Waldo Moment‘ and ‘The National Anthem‘ show news tickers referring to the same news story; the web page in ‘Shut Up and Dance’ shows that Skillane’s trial from ‘White Bear’ is underway), but no exact timeline has ever been confirmed by the Black Mirror crew.

“[The episodes] take place in the same psychological universe, certainly,” Booker said in an AMA last year. “There are sometimes explicit links.”

Anyway. With the rate we’re getting episode trailers, it’s likely the series will drop any day now – although a release date is still yet to be confirmed. Let the speculation commence.
