If you’re one of the three people left on earth who hasn’t seen the Netflix thriller yet, you’ll at least recognise the viral memes of people wearing a scarf over their eyes.

Anyway, Netflix has just announced that the frightening flick scored the biggest seven-day viewership than any other OG film to date which is ‘yuge.

The international streaming giant took to social media to announce that over 45 million member accounts have watched the movie in its first week, breaking a major Netflix record.

In keeping with the viral meme that has transpired from the film, the official Netflix account spun the blindfold joke into their announcement tweet:

“Took off my blindfold this morning to discover that 45,037,125 Netflix accounts have already watched Bird Box — best first 7 days ever for a Netflix film!” Netflix wrote.

Now, ya know this is big news ‘coz Netflix is known for keeping their viewer data on the mega downlow, meaning these results must be absolutely bloody phenom.

ICYMI: The film stars queen Sandra Bullock (that’s right, QUEEN Sandra Bullock, not tHe WoMaN fRoM bIrD bOx like you youths have been calling her) as a single mama trying to keep her kids safe after a mysterious force invades Earth, compelling people to take their own lives.

Those still standing are forced to find a way to navigate through the post-apocalyptic world while blindfolded lest their deepest and darkest fears plague them to death.

Yep, it’s some seriously heavy shit, perfect for that period of time between Christmas and New Years when you have no idea what time or day it is, what planet you’re on or how many slices of pizza you’ve consumed.
