‘The Big Bang Theory’ Is Ending After 12 Seasons And 40 Million Math Jokes

There will come a time when humanity breathes its last, when the final, pitiful mote of our existence peters out, and ten thousand years of darkness sweep the Earth. And when that time comes, new episodes of a Chuck Lorre sitcom will be flickering on the telly.

But it won’t be The Big Bang Theory.

In a new joint statement, CBS, Warner Bros. Television, and Chuck Lorre Productions have confirmed the massively successful show will come to a close after its twelfth season.

“We, along with the cast, writers and crew, are extremely appreciative of the show’s success and aim to deliver a final season, and series finale, that will bring The Big Bang Theory to an epic creative close,” the statement reads.

CBS Entertainment chief Kelly Kahl added the show will come to a close after becoming the “defining comedy of its generation.” Hmm.

Season 12 is slated to kick off in the United States on September 24, and will feature the entirety of the show’s original ensemble cast – a genuinely impressive feat, considering they’ve been doing it for nearly 11 years.

On to the next one, then.
