A ‘Big Bang Theory’ Star Hinted It’s Finally, Mercifully, Coming To An End

Here’s a testament to the unchanging nature of The Big Bang Theory: the phenomenally successful sitcom premiered when John Howard was still Prime Minister. An epoch has passed since that ragtag bunch of scientists and their normie underlings awkwardly burst onto our screens. We’ve seen empires rise and fall. And now, finally, the show may be coming to an end.

Speaking at a Television Critic’s Association event on Saturday, star Johnny Galecki hinted that Chuck Lorre‘s moneyspinner is liable to wind down after its twelfth season.

Discussing CBS‘ renewal of the show for two more outings, Galecki said “the only manner in which the cast has discussed wrapping the show has been that we’re all going to be very sad when that day comes,” but “I think at this point everyone’s very comfortable with 12 seasons being a good time to go home and see our families.”

Galecki, who likely has more money than God due to his involvement on the phenomenally successful comedy, also spoke about his burgeoning focus on production. On the topic of upcoming sitcom Living Biblically, Galecki admitted he doesn’t catch much sleep, but said he relished the opportunity to work in a different capacity.

Is it likely that CBS will funnel funding into the show ad infinitum? Sure. But if Galecki and Co. finally cleave themselves from The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon is there to cop the next cash injection.
