Benedict Cumberbatch Joins ‘Good Omens’ As A Giant Animated Satan

Benedict Cumberbatch

Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch will become the devil in his next role in Amazon Prime Video series Good Omens. The delightful-looking show already stars David Tennant – otherwise known as Doctor Who, Kilgrave, and Detective Alec Hardy – which is a big fat tick.

Creator Neil Gaiman revealed Cumberbatch will voice a “giant animated Satan” in the show at the Television Critics Association. Vulture reports Academy Award winner Frances McDormand will voice God.

Casting McDormand as God is incredible so the crew knew they needed an actor that could “give [her] a run for her money” so who better than the one and only Cumberbatch. Hopefully, he won’t have to pronounce penguins at all.

But wait, if you’re unfamiliar with the rest of the cast – buckle up.

Joining Tennant, Cumberbatch, and McDormand is Jon Hamm, Nick Offerman, Jack Whitehall, Miranda Richardson, Adria Arjona, Michael McKean, and Anna Maxwell Martin.

Not bloody bad at all.

Good Omens, based on the 1990 novel, tells the tale of a demon named Crowley (Tennant) and an angel Aziraphale (Sheen) who – having grown to love living on Earth – work together to prevent the end of the bloody world. It’s humour, horror, and fantasy all in one.

Does it look absolutely bonkers? Sure. Will we all still watch it? Hell yes.

Good Omens is set to premiere on May 31.
