A US Woman Listed As An Actual Missing Person Turned Up On ‘The Bachelor’

California woman listed as a missing person has been “found” alive and well and starring on the current season of The Bachelor, several months after her mother reported her disappearance to local law enforcement.

According to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s OfficeRebekah Martinez of Fresno was reported missing on November 18, after telling her mother that she was going off to work on a friend’s marijuana farm and would be back in around a week.

After several days with no contact, her mother became concerned and contacted police. Around a month later, however, she contacted them again to say that she had since spoken to her daughter, and that Rebekah was “doing well”. Crisis averted, right? Apparently not.

Because Rebekah herself had not spoken to police, her name remained in the missing person’s database, and earlier this week, when local newspaper the North Coast Journal shared an article about the high number of disappearances in Humboldt County, it included her picture.

The article was captioned “see anyone you recognize?”, and one eagle-eyed Bachelor fan certainly did, with the story about the missing bachelorette quickly going viral from there.

Martinez has been active on social media since the current season of The Bachelor wrapped last year, but it seems nobody mentioned this to the cops. When she heard that she was technically a missing person, she took to Twitter in good spirits, writing:

“MOM. how many times do I have to tell you I don’t get cell service on The Bachelor??”

She seemed more concerned that her drivers license photo, featuring a very striking pair of peacock feather earrings, was now on display for the world to see.

After speaking with her themselves, local authorities removed her from the missing persons list. The whereabouts of the earrings is unknown.
