If you watched Bachelor in Paradise and I assume you did because you’re reading this then join me in a heap of ugly crying over the split of series’ favourites, Sam and Tara.
Love – love is not real.
The beautiful former (SOBS) couple met on the reality TV show and charmed Australia with their quirky and down-to-earth nature. Tara, the sweetheart who everyone just loves and Sam, the goofball from Sophie Monk’s season who we all kinda hated at first but who ended up being a bloody quality bloke.
Sam proposed to Tara on the season finale of the show, cementing our eternal love for the couple after so many declarations of complete adoration throughout the first season of Bachelor in Paradise.
Rumours of the couple’s split have circled the internet in the past few weeks but today, Sam confirmed the news in an Instagram post:
This message goes out to all the beautiful people who shared with me such an amazing journey. The fairy tale that I took part in was deep and surreal. My proposal was meant to be forever but life sometimes takes you away from the dream and you wake up.
So…deep breath…. this has come to an end. I loved Tara with my whole heart and those two people in Fiji fell completely. It’s hard writing this thinking back to those moments.
Your joy in our story and the engagement meant so much and I can assure you it is the saddest thing for me to come to terms with.
Watching something you valued fall apart and what you love follow a different path is one of the most difficult things.
My heart feels broken and obviously having it play out in public adds so many difficult dimensions.
I forgot about the cameras in Fiji and I simply fell in love. The truth is difficult but the path ahead will show the way.
Obviously there has been speculation for some time but I needed to know for sure before making anything public. That has been hard.
Our time together will always hold a beautiful and difficult place in my heart and I have to believe that everything happens for a reason.
Thank you everyone for the beautiful support and being on this journey. In a time that was mostly in hiding your words provided magic.
I look forward to the future. I got to see that love is real and powerful…. and it is. I’ll find it again.

Shortly after, Tara also confirmed news of the break-up via her Instagram story.
Like Sam, Tara wrote “I don’t want anyone to think we “faked” anything or that what you saw on TV wasn’t real. What we felt was 100% real and we both put our best efforts in to make it work in the real world but unfortunately for different reasons it didn’t work out. I did love Sam very much and I wish him nothing but the best. I know many of you will be sad but please don’t be upset as this is for the best.”
