The hashtags have now been deleted from Baff’s Instagram account, and a Channel 10 spokesperson told PEDESTRIAN.TV “Shannon is sorry for any offense this may of caused.”

The discovery comes amid a continual discussion about the diversity of Bachelor contestants, and about the cultural make-up of mainstream Australian television more broadly.

The Bachelor Australia‘s 2018 iteration features the franchise’s first Indigenous contestant, Brooke Blurton, and features three contestants of Indonesian, Polish, and Russian descent, respectively.

But viewers have once again been criticised the show for its largely monocultural line-up.
