The New Avengers Trailer Is Already The Most Viewed Ever & It’s Been A Day

Avengers

The level of anticipation for Avengers: Endgame is such that Marvel Studios probably didn’t even need to release a trailer – they could have just set a date, dropped the thing in cinemas and people would still have flocked to see it and gratefully forked over their money.

Nonetheless, they went ahead and gave us a first look at the film yesterday, and it seems like a LOT of you are indeed very keen to check it out, because in the space of a single day, the trailer – which also revealed the title of the film – smashed viewing records.

“To the greatest fans in the world, thank you for being there from the beginning until the endgame and making this the most viewed trailer in history with 289M views in 24 hours!”, the studio said in a Tweet earlier today, celebrating its success.

The previous record-holder, as it happens, was the last film in the series – Avengers: Infinity War, which attracted 230 million views in the same time frame. Close behind it was the new Lion King teaser, which pulled in 224.6 million.

Truly, what a time to be a movie trailer.

The trailer, released yesterday, was praised by fans for giving away very little of the plot of the upcoming film – after viewing it, all we really know is that Iron ManBlack WidowCaptain America and presumably Hawkeye are sad after Thanos turned all their mates to dust, but that’s about it.

Oh, and Paul Rudd‘s Ant-Man is also in the mix, which we kinda knew anyway. Brie Larson‘s Captain Marvel, who has her own movie coming out soon, is thought to play a key role in Avengers: Endgame, although she is nowhere to be seen in the trailer.

Marvel also released a new poster for the flick, which will be in cinemas next April:
