If you’ve been paying close attention to Australian Survivor this season, you’ll no doubt have noted a few key issues:
- It rules.
- Lydia Lassiler is possibly the strongest person to ever play Survivor.
- Zach sucked an incredible amount of ass and he should’ve been voted out on day one, and;
- The battle between Robbie and Mat has been one for the ages.

The one-on-one clashes between Contender tribe member/builder Robbie and legitimate rugby dual-code legend Mat Rogers have been wonderful, partly because it’s been a case of two absolute hosses going head-to-head, partly because it’s a young bull stepping up to repeatedly challenge a wily old veteran, and partly because Mat has wiped the floor with Robbie every time they’ve crossed paths.
Until last night, that is.
The battles between Mat and Robbie have been a staple of the season thus far; despite his previously winless record, the Contenders tribe repeatedly let Robbie go up against Mat because it was just something he needed to do.

Finally, last night, with a Sunday roast reward on the line, Robbie found a way.
In an endurance challenge that saw them tasked with holding onto a rope and leaning back for as long as possible, Robbie’s tradie hands managed to outlast Mat’s, giving him the first win over the legitimate pro athlete and helping the re-born Contenders tribe to their second consecutive Reward challenge win.

The Champions, in disarray ever since the tribe shake-up sent Lydia to the Contenders team, were left to pick up the pieces in a wild Tribal Council that took two votes to finally excise Tegan from the competition.

Yep.
In summation: Benji sucks and is a snake, Brian’s time has gotta be thin, and Heath and Fenella thinking their only hope is to re-consolidate the contenders is absolute fool’s play.
