One Final Season Of Anthony Bourdain’s ‘Parts Unknown’ Is Coming This Year

Two months after the death of beloved chef and author Anthony Bourdain, CNN has revealed it is producing one final season of his lauded travel series Parts Unknown.

CNN’s executive vice president of talent and content Amy Entelis told the LA Times one episode of the series – featuring a trip to Kenya with comedian W. Kamau Bell – was fully completed before Bourdain took his own life in June.

Four other episodes will be comprised of his explorations of Manhattan’s Lower East Side, Texas’ Big Bend border region, Spain, and Indonesia. While Bourdain’s trademark commentary will not be present on those episodes, Entelis said directors will utilise comments captured while he was on location.

Supplementary interviews with the show’s subjects are being conducted to tie the episodes together.

The second-to-last episode will be compiled of unseen behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with the Parts Unknown crew. The final instalment will focus on “how Tony affected the world,” Entelis said.

Bourdain’s expertise, openness and warmth guided the series, and the final season of Parts Unknown might just uphold that legacy. We’ll find out when it premieres in the U.S. later this year.
