Andy Samberg & Sandra Oh Are Hosting The Golden Globes, The Good Award Show

While hosting the Academy Awards may be the job that virtually no one except for Kevin Hart wants this year, the Golden Globes tends to be more of an openly accept gig. In recent years, the Golden Globes has repeatedly succeeded where the Oscars hasn’t, largely because of a looser attitude towards the night, and a willingness to bet on the slightly left-of-centre with regards to hosting choices. And that run of odd bedfellows is set to continue in 2019, thanks to newly tapped hosting pair Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh.

While that may seem like a strange coupling on paper, the duo were a highlight when presenting at the Emmy Awards together in September; an appearance which likely had a role in today’s announcement.

A whole awards ceremony of that? You’d absolutely get around it, no questions asked.

NBC confirmed Oh and Samberg would be hosting this year’s awards earlier this morning via a statement credited to Paul Telegdy and George Cheeks, co-chairmen of NBC Entertainment, who extolled the virtues of their new hosts.

Sandra and Andy are the perfect choices to host this world-class event. They bring wit, charm, and style to a room filled with the very best of film and television. It’s sure to be another unforgettable, fun-filled night.

The 76th Golden Globe awards are scheduled for Monday, January 7th Australian time, with the ceremony commencing at midday AEDT.
