Amazon Prime Video has locked in 10 Aussie comedians – exactly who you’d expect – for ten worldwide specials slated for release next year.
I really mean it when I say “exactly who you’d expect”.
We have Joy from 2019 Gold Logie winner (good times) Tom Gleeson; All Talk from Celia Pacquola; Self-Diagnosed Genius from Tommy Little; Judith Lucy vs Men from Judith Lucy; Fly from Lano & Woodley; What’s Wrong with You? from Anne Edmonds; Bossy Bottom from Zoë Coombs Marr; Very Very from Tom Walker; Live by MY BOY Dilruk Jayasinha; and Savage from Alice Fraser (!!!).
All ten projects are being produced by Guesswork Television, the team behind a bunch of quality content including Hannah Gadsby‘s Nanette, Please Like Me, Hard Quiz, and Get Krack!n.
The specials will be filmed in Melbourne this month and will premiere globally on Prime Video sometime in early 2020. You can grab your tickets to the shows right here.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming this talented group of Australian comedians to the Prime Video Family,” James Farrell, Head of International Originals for Amazon Studios said. “These are hilarious performances that we know our customers will love in Australia and around the world.”
Just last month, Amazon Prime announced its first Aussie Amazon Original series set to be hosted by Rebel Wilson. It’s called LOL: Last One Laughing. Yes. In a nutshell you have ten leading Aussie comedians battling it out to make each other laugh first. The winner cops a cool $100,000.
Also, Wilson is randomly going to host Seven’s new competition dog styling show Pooched Perfect. This will also premiere next year. I don’t know. But it’s about dogs so I’ll probably tune in for an episode or two.Image: AAP / Darren England
