When Troy Bolton (the main character in High School Musical, played by Zac Efron) said, “Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat,” he must’ve bloody well meant it because there’s a rumour circulating that the character might just return in the hit Disney+ series.
I spotted a Bustle article over the weekend that read, ‘Will Zac Efron Be In The ‘High School Musical’ Series?’
I had a peep through the article and whataya know? Showrunner Tim Federle is fanning the rumours, revealing that last season featured cameos from OG stars Lucas Grabeel (Ryan Evans) and KayCee Stroh (Martha Cox), so it’s certainly possible!
“I think that I’m always looking to expand the kind of guest star cast, just because I think it’s so fun to see people pop up on the show,” Federle told Digital Spy, adding: “If you happen to be out and see Zac Efron, please mention it to him. I’d love for him to give me a call.”
Well considering us Aussies have more of a chance of bumping into the bloke than anyone in the States, I’ll most definitely keep that in mind!
Zac Efron has been Down Under since last year, filming season 2 of his Netflix series, Down to Earth with Zac Efron, where he travels around, hunting for new forms of sustainable living.
The only tricky part is that the series was filmed last year during COVID and Zac Efron has been here filming Down to Earth with Zac Efron, but that being said, he didn’t really crop up ’til about July, so it’s possible that he filmed a super quick scene before flying to Aus.
It’s also possible that he’s filmed some kind of video / Zoom clip and will beam into an upcoming scene.
Another potential option is that he filmed something for the show down here (there is a Disney HQ in Australia, ya know?), and the scene will be stitched together using green screen / editing magic.
This is all just hearsay for now, but it’s fun to dream, innit?
