Your Good Friday Just Got Great, Because Here’s The Rock Lip-Syncing To Taylor Swift

If anyone had any concerns whatsoever about whether or not taking Jimmy Fallon‘s successful Lip Sync Battle sketches off The Tonight Show and spinning them into their very own self-contained TV show would be a good idea, this will settle that.

It’s not just a good idea. It’s a freaking genius idea. It’s your favourite TV and film types bouncing around stage, hamming it up and mouthing the words to popular songs whilst LL Cool J makes LL Cool J reaction faces and Chrissy Teigen shakes drinks for no other reason than she’s Chrissy Effing Teigen and she can have a mojito whenever she goddamned well wants.
There is not a single part of that sentence that isn’t universally appealing. It is a concept that is criminally wonderful in its simplicity.
And if that, in and of itself, is somehow still not enough to push the idea over the line in your heads, then cop a facefull of The Rock grabbing the mic, shining it up real nice, turning that sumbitch sideways and sticking it straight up to his face to mime his way right the hell through Taylor Swift‘s “Shake It Off.”

This is beautiful. This is magnificent. This is pure, distilled joy brimming from every frame. And all I want to do is hug the shit out of it and never let go.
I’m just so, so happy that this piece of footage exists. It is, without any sense of hyperbole, the absolute dead centre of my own personal pop culture Venn diagram.
Thank you, internet based gods, for bestowing this unto us all on this most holy and sacred of days.
