YOU GUYS, Blinky Bill Is Getting A 2016 TV Reboot For The Next Generation

YOU GUYS – Blinky Bill is getting a TV reboot next year.

We get it, you’re a bit out of the target market for this one, but just THINK OF THE NEW GENERATION OF LOYAL FANS WHO WILL GROW UP WITH BLINKY.

It won’t look ~exactly~ the same: they’ve gone with the CGI look of Blinky Bill: The Movie, because, as producer Barbara Stephen says, they’ve gotta appeal to the youth of today. And kids these days are crack monkeys for 3D animation and screens they can touch. (Our words, not hers. Definitely not hers.)

FYI – this is the trailer, if you want a feel for what the show’s gonna look like:

There’s also a new main character, Jacko the super nervous Blue Tongue Lizard. He’ll be best mates with Blinky Bill as they go adventuring, and tbh we’re getting Winnie the Pooh and Piglet vibes here, only with a heavy dose of A U S T R A L I A N A.

New characters also include Spike the Echidna and Sugar the Sugar Glider, because international audiences (and there’s a surprising amount of them) should know we’re not all kangaroos, koalas, and drop bears.

It’s still early days, so the voices of Blinky Bill et al have not been found, let alone announced. Ryan Kwanten voiced Blinky Bill in the movie, but chances of him eschewing Hollywood fame for continuity reasons in The Wild Adventures of Blinky Bill, airing on Channel 7 in 2016, are slim to not on your life, son.

The same goes for Toni Colette, Barry Humphries, David Wenham, Richard Roxburgh, Deborah Mailman and Barry Otto, who also lent their voices to the movie (out this September), which makes it the most ‘Strayan thing since yesterday when Mick Fanning punched a shark.
