Wrap Your Eyes Around The Insanely Fun 1st Trailer For ‘Thor: Ragnarok’

There’s been a great deal of anticipation for the first trailer of Thor: Ragnarok. We’ve had some pretty tantalising press around this one – after the relatively dreary Thor: The Dark World, it looked like Kiwi director Taika Waititi was going to give our beloved Asgardian friend a kick up the ass and make the third film a bit more fun.

After Entertainment Weekly dropped extremely colourful set photos, it became very clear that Waititi was really going hard on the 70s Thor / Saturday morning cartoon aesthetic. The ‘teaser’ (which is nearly 2 minutes long, so it’s not really a teaser) confirms that this movie looks like shitloads of fun.

A lot of people online are saying that because of the jokes, Led Zeppelin soundtrack and the 70s style motion graphics that Ragnarok is going hard down the Guardians of the Galaxy route. There are some pretty clear similarities, and Waititi is well-suited for that kind of film – but I reckon this one might be even more eccentric.
It’s pretty clear the focus is very much a comedic one, too. “I feel like a guest in Marvel’s universe but with the creative freedom to do what I want,” Waititi said during an earlier phase of development. “I think this is the most different Marvel movie to date and one of the biggest.”
Hell yeah.
