The first season of The Witcher has not even premiered yet, but Netflix are clearly feeling confident about your boy Geralt of Rivia, as they’ve already gone ahead and renewed it for a second.

The show is based on the original series of novels by author Andrzej Sapkowski, although it will reportedly also include nods to the wildly popular video games made by CD Projekt Red.

Witcher fans were originally a little wary of Henry Cavill as Geralt, but when the first trailer appeared, the hunky Superman actor seemed to embody the silver-haired character with sufficient gravity.

Cavill also seems mad keen on the source material, telling French magazine Premiere:

“I discovered the games, then I discovered the books, and the universe of The Witcher instantly meant something to me. I often thought about playing Geralt. When the opportunity appeared, I didn’t let the chance pass me… I didn’t even have the need to prepare myself for the role. Because I breathe, I live this universe every day. I already got numerous opportunities to think about this character while I was playing the games.”

The series, which also stars Freya Allan as Ciri and Anya Chalotra as the sorceress Yennefer, premieres on December 20.
