Will Ferrell To Star In A Comedy About Eurovision & That’s 12 Points From Us

Will Ferrell and singing has always been a match made in heaven, so it’s frankly absurd that this hasn’t happened sooner.

One half of Prestige Worldwide is taking his talents to Europe thanks to a new comedy flick centred on the wild and delightfully insane world of Eurovision. Hell yes mates, a Eurovision movie is on the way.

The Hollywood Reporter is… well, reporting… that the film – literally titled Eurovision – is being co-written by Ferrell alongside SNL alum Andrew Steele, who has recently been pairing up with Ferrell to work on his entertainment reporter project Cord & Tish which recently saw Ferrell and Molly Shannon provide actual live coverage of the Royal Wedding for HBO.

The flick is being developed for Netflix, shirking the usual theatrical release business, where Ferrell and his production company Gary Sanchez have had a strong recent relationship. Ferrell produced the recent Gillian Jacobs vehicle Ibiza for Netflix, and has the upcoming 10-episode series Dead to Me in the works.

Quite obviously there’s no word on what the film will entail at this point, but anyone even remotely familiar with Eurovision will be aware that the possibility for ridiculousness is practically boundless, and it’s in those outrageous settings that Ferrell tends to thrive. So strap yourselves in for it.

Besides, anything where Will Ferrell is let loose on the microphone to show off his pipes is an automatic win as far as we’re concerned.

Givvus.
