For the second year running, our very own Rose Byrne has been declared Hollywood’s it girl during the frantic pilot season. With networks ordering 90 comedy and drama pilots, casting directors are madly scrambling in an attempt to attach big names to their shows. Byrne’s diverse resume has propelled her to the top of the your signature would guarantee my damn show wishlist.
Having already proven she can juggle TV with film during her past five seasons on Damages, Byrne has excelled in comedic (Bridesmaids, Get Him To The Greek) and dramatic roles (X-Men: First Class, Sunshine), and is becoming one of Hollywood’s most bankable stars. Passing on all offers last year, Byrne is reported to be actively seeking out scripts this time around with Damages wrapping up after 5 seasons.
Further confirming that TV shows are the new Motion Pictures in terms of quality and interest, Hollywood big shots including Kevin Bacon, Anna Faris, and Robin Williams are attached to projects while Tim Robbins, Paul Giamatti, David Arquette, Ian McShane, and John Cusack have created plenty of interest. 30 Rock’s Jane Krakowski needn’t get used to unemployment with several comedy projects desperate for her signature.
Next up Byrne
will star in A Place Beyond the Pines. Directed by Derek Cianfrance (Blue Valentine), Byrne plays Bradley (Peoples Sexist Man Alive 2012) Cooper’s wife. Imagine the babies. The film also stars Ryan Gosling, and Eva Mendes and looks excellent.
