At last night’s MTV Music Video Awards Tyler, The Creator took out the prize for Best New Artist for his “Yonkers” video. Tyler opened his profanity-inflected acceptance speech by announcing: “I’m excited as fuck right now, yo. I wanted this shit since I was 9.”, evidently finding the bestowal a humbling and thrilling honour… But no one – not even Tyler himself – was quite as stoked as his mother.
