Watch Trailer For ‘Twilight’ Author’s Other Book

Twilight author Stephenie Meyer wrote another extremely popular young adult novel called, The Host, set in an entirely different world from Team Jacob. The romantic science-fiction story is set in a post-apocalyptic world where parasitic aliens, as the title suggests, inhabit the bodies and minds of their human “hosts”. Think post-Invasion of the Body Snatchers with some suggestive inter-species romancing thrown in.

The director Andrew Niccol is no stranger to the sci-fi genre (he wrote and directed Gattaca and S1m0ne), so it should be interesting to see what he does with the premise. Also interesting is the cast: Saoirse Ronan, who was so good in Atonement plays the dual lead characters (Melanie Stryder/Wanderer), as well as Jeremy Irons’ hot son Max Irons, Jake Abel, Diane Kruger and William Hurt. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn was so bad (bad-bad, not bad-hilarious) that it was enough to make a person swear off Meyer adaptations for life, but it sounds as though there’s enough talent involved in The Host to restore some interest. There’s also GLOWING BLUE EYES as the main symptom of alien possession – always terrifying.

It is set to be released on 29 March 2013 so there’s a while to wait, but here is the first look via teaser:
