Cannes 2009 Caméra d’Or winner and Samson & Delilah filmmaker Warwick Thornton has unveiled the official trailer for his most recent cinema project, The Darkside, an inventive, exploratory and meditative feat of storytelling which examines the uneasy relationship between Indigenous Australian people and the departed, spirits and the afterlife by seeking out and assembling a collection of real life ghost stories from across the country and retelling them through a series of direct-to-camera monologues delivered by some of Australia’s most iconic actors.
Those include Deborah Mailman, Jack Charles, Claudia Karvan, Bryan Brown and Aaron Pedersen, who star across thirteen different segments which look exquisite. For example…
The Darkside opens in New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia November 28th and Victoria, Western Australia and the ACT in February 2014.
