WATCH: The Trailer For The Amy Adams Alien Epic ‘Arrival’ Looks Hella Good

Movies about aliens are back in vogue, and it feels like every studio is pumpin’ em out again. Maybe it’s that 80s nostalgia kick we’re all experiencing through Stranger Things that has everyone keen to dip back into some spooky-ass sci-fi. Who knows.

But this one looks really good. Arrival has serious chops behind it – director Denis Villeneuve was behind Prisoners, Sicario and the tremendous Incendies, so this isn’t a bargain basement Independence Day 2.
Basically, Amy Adams plays humanity’s last hope, someone who can translate the language of aliens that touch down in giant cylindrical tubes all over the world. The trailer actually is quite long and imparts a lot of info, so I’m keen to see where this goes.
If it’s anything like Villeneuve’s other stuff, it should be pretty freakin’ good. Fingers crossed.
