Watch The Trailer For Russell Crowe’s Directorial Debut “The Water Diviner”

He’s no doubt got other things on his mind right now but Russell Crowe has just unveiled the first trailer for his sumptuous looking directorial debut, The Water Diviner. Rusty, who was linked last year to helming a Bill Hicks biopic and in 2011 to a film adaptation of crime novelist James Ellroy’s 77, also takes top billing in a globe-traversing period drama about family, grief and duty.

The film, penned by Andrew Knight (Rake, SeaChange, Jack Irish) and Andrew Anastasios, follows an Australian farmer (Crowe) who travels to Istanbul in search of his missing sons, reported missing in action during the battle of Gallipoli, the site of significant casualties and horror for the Australian armed forces during World War I
The film also stars Olga Kurylenko, Jai Courtney, Yilmaz Erdogan, Cem Yilmaz, Ryan Corr and Jacqueline McKenzie and will be released nationally on Boxing Day.
