The Rubens shot their way to the top of the Triple J Hottest 100 with their track ‘Hoops’, and they haven’t quite been resting on their laurels since. What they’ve been doing, it seems, is shooting this completely weird video for ‘Cut Me Loose’ with Sydney electroclash maestro SPOD

Featuring a lengthy cameo from the lads in The Meeting Tree as well as SPOD himself, ‘Cut Me Loose’ is… well, I can’t really describe it, honestly. There’s a huge 3D baby, and bikini babes, and a banana? I feel unqualified to make any objective claims about this video, so here’s SPOD giving the lowdown:

Life, an endless relay of terror that you cope with by banking on those moments that you define yourself by, hoping to quell the existential angst of existence & the vague horror of being hunted by time. Only there lies more terror, of underperforming, not reaching your potential, lazily repeating yourself or even worse, disappointing people. But the sweet payoff when you get a small glimpse of the warm glow of creative satisfaction quickly dissolves back into the black abyss of Life, an endless relay of terror, banking on those moments.

I feel more overwhelmed now having read that. You know what? Why don’t you just watch it, in this exclusive PEDESTRIAN.TV premiere? Good one. Do that:
