Watch The New ‘X-Men: First Class’ Trailer

Comic geeks and mutant aficionados, join me for a nerdgasm over the latest trailer for X-Men: First Class. The movie acts as a prelude to the lycra-costumed mutant world as we know it, and heads back to the 1960s amidst the Cold War when Professor X and Magneto were just Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and Erik Lensherr (Michael Fassbender) – two close pals discovering their mutant powers before forming their famous rivalry based on a fundamental opposition of beliefs. There’s so many layers within the film to symbolise the catastrophic impact of conflicts born from contrasting social ideologies: Communism vs Democracy; Western beliefs vs Eastern; Mutants vs Humans; Mutants vs Mutants. But more importantly there’s heaps of cool mutant powers and blowing shit up.

The cast also boats January Jones, Rose Byrne, Kevin Bacon, Nicholas Hoult and Oliver Platt. X-Men: First Class is set to open in the US on June 3.
