The immense torso of Chris Hemsworth returns, hammer in hand, for the next phase in the realm-hopping adventures of the charismatic God of Thunder in first trailer for Thor: The Dark World.
After saving the world with his assembly of Marvel co-heros in The Avengers, Thor finds himself faced with restoring order to the cosmos once again, but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith (played by the always fantastic Christopher Eccleston) returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin (Anthony Hopkins) cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster (a forever young Natalie Portman) and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
And guess who else is back? Your favourite power-starved psychopath Loki (Tom Hiddleston) who Thor recruits as an unlikely ally to assist in saving the nine realms.
The next journey into the world of Thor looks to be a spot darker than the refreshingly funny and hugely entertaining first film, and we’re adding this to our must-see list of popcorn flicks due out this year (it hits cinemas 8 November).
