Watch The First Trailer For Malala Yousafzai’s Harrowing Doco, ‘He Named Me Malala’

In October 2012, education activist and then 15-year-old Malala Yousafzai traveled home on a school bus, and was met by a gunman from the Pakistan Taliban – who asked for her by name, and then fired three shots, one of which hit the left side of her forehead and traveled to her shoulder.
Yousafzai’s defiant recovery of the incident—and continued, impassioned activism for education for all women and girls around the world—led to the now 18-year-old to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in October last year.
Striking a chord around the globe for her relentless spirit and fight for education rights, the story of Malala Yousafzai is now being released as a documentary titled, ‘He Named Me Malala’.
Directed by legendary doco maker Davis Guggenheim (‘An Inconvenient Truth’, ‘Waiting For Superman’), ‘He Named Me Malala’ follows the education activist’s recovery, her fight for children’s rights alongside her family and father, Zia.
I am not a lone voice; I am many. And voices are our most powerful weapon,” Yousafzai says in the trailer. This is what a hero looks like. Watch below.
