Watch The First Trailer For J.K. Rowling’s ‘The Casual Vacancy’ TV Adaptation

Have you read The Casual Vacancy, J.K. Rowling’s first foray into literature written for the express purposes of entertaining your parents’ generation and not satiating the millennial’s inexhaustible appetite for Harry Potter and the [Interchangeable Adjective/Noun] nostalgia?
If not, no dramas, because now you can just watch the BBC One adaptation and reallocate the time it would’ve taken you to read a 500 page novel into something much more productive and beneficial for you in the long run, like finding your best angle, or reading blogs.
The Casual Vacancy, an HBO co-production, stars Albus Dumbledore (Michael Gambon, pictured above sans wizardry) and is something of a small-town tragicomedy, set an English idyll that’s rocked by the death of a parishioner. It contains traces of heroin, prostitution and drama. TBH I haven’t read it.
The adaptation airs in three one hour parts on BBC One on February 15th and will probably play ad infinitum on the ABC long after we’ve all turned to dust.
