WATCH: Sportscaster Sacked Over Cringey 4 Min Prince-Themed Bulletin

Last week, Nashville sportscaster Dan Phillips recorded a silly little ‘tribute’ to Prince in which he awkwardly slotted Prince song titles into his usual sports report. It was a little weird and maybe kinda painful four minutes; though it did feature the immortal line “THIS IS WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE WHEN DOVES CRY… AND WHEN MIKE FISHER SCORES”.

Despite it being a fairly harmless array of shitty dad jokes, turns out some people weren’t onboard with it. Dan Phillips was fired from the role he held at Fox station WZTV for 10 years after a number of viewers complained. He confirmed it in a Facebook post.
The comments on his status are pretty nonplussed – his friends are a little confused about why his silly but heartfelt tribute copped so much heat. His Twitter page is now gone and he’s vanished off the broadcaster’s website.
Welp. Goes to show that you must obey that universal maxim: never Tweet. Or post. Or joke. Or tribute. Especially not when someone has recently passed. It’s a recipe for trouble.
