In the highly competitive field of “shows that make you laugh but also attempt to destroy you with moments of overwhelming realness coming from a cartoon horse”, ‘BoJack Horseman‘ is the frontrunner by far.
It has delivered huge handfuls of incredibly smart jokes, incredibly dumb jokes (Cameron Crowe being a raven kills me every goddamn time) and emotionally devastating gut-wrenching gut-punches, and it also had a track from Australia‘s very own Courtney Barnett feature prominently in the finale of the second season, which is pretty cool.
Because the internet has seemingly infinite time and infinite resources, a YouTube user by the name of “dinsfire“, who by all appearances seems to be a brony, has donned one of those fucked up horse masks and made a shot-by-shot remake that seems like it might have been partially shot at some sort of brony convention? I don’t know, you be the judge.
Mostly this means wearing a horse mask and awkwardly walking sideways very slowly (should have invested in a skateboard) before ultimately falling backwards into a pool, also wearing a horse mask. Incredible work all round.
Who knew watching one of those masks flop around underwater would be such a treat? You will, after watching this video. Brony or not, it’s pretty cool:
