WATCH: Prank Vid Ft. Samara From ‘The Ring’ Is Your Worst Nightmare IRL

There’s not a soul alive who saw iconic horror film ‘The Ring‘ in 2002 and didn’t develop an unnatural fear of blank television screens afterwards. Not one.

Your mate who claimed s/he wasn’t scared at all, and actually the whole thing was laughably bad? His / her uncle also works at Nintendo and they definitely have a girl/boyfriend who goes to another school, so you wouldn’t know them. In short: your lying mate was shitting themself.

Luckily, we can all lose sleep again when ‘Rings‘ comes out later this year.

The third instalment of the franchise modernises the VCR situation to a mysterious video sent via email, but the premise remains the same: first you watch it, then you die (although the same could be said for literally any movie).

To promote the film, Paramount Pictures decided to test the general public’s sphincter strength, by pranking poor, innocent humans into believing that Samara was deadset climbing out of a display TV.

In this writer’s opinion? It’s some good shit.

Those people will likely never walk into a Good Guys (or the US equivalent… a Best Buy?) again. Oh well.

‘Rings’ hits cinemas February 23. Watch the trailer again below.
