WATCH: Obama’s Final ‘Slow Jam The News’ Is A Presidential Victory Lap

Barack Obama’s eight-year-long tenure as President of the United States of America has been… remarkably decent. Of course, being bookended by the world-changing reign of George W. Bush and the already-maligned Clinton 2.0 – or, yes, Trump – may play into our positive perceptions of the bloke.
Still, discarding the ways the 43rd and 45th POTUS will colour our memories of Barry, he’ll always be an objectively smooth dude. Want proof? Look no further than his chameleonic ability to exchange “most powerful man in the world” for “gently self-deprecating crooner” on Jimmy Fallon’s latest Slow Jam the News bit.
As The Roots provide an equally presidential and smouldering backing track, Obama declares “there will be no third term. I can’t stay forever. Besides, daddy’s got a Hawaiian vacation booked in about… 223 days. But who’s counting.”
What follows is a blow-by-blow rundown of some of his greatest hits – forging the Iran nuclear deal, reopening diplomatic ties with Cuba, and… the Trans-Pacific Partnership. That particular one is the subject of some serious humming and hawwing from all corners of the political spectrum, but gosh dangit, he still manages to make it sound enticing.

Oh, there’s an obligatory Rihanna bit too, followed by an unprecedented double-mic drop. Lounge your way through the past eight years below:

(Seriously, no other President could pull this off. If Bernie wins it, well, Fallon might just have to bust out his Dylan impression again instead.)
