If the current political climate has lead you to adopt lifestyle choices more in line with an ‘off the grid‘ philosophy – in which case, what are you doing reading this sentence? – you might have missed the news that Netflix made its long-awaited, much fêted touchdown on Australian soil last month with a launch event boasting local and international talent plucked straight from the streaming service’s headlining shows.
Everyone was there: Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’s endlessly endearing Ellie Kemper was there; Bloodline’s creator Todd A. Kessler and star Ben Mendelsohn were there too, as were the stars of Marco Polo, Sens8, Daredevil and, most spectacularly, Orange Is The New Black’s Uzo Aduba and Australia’s very own Yael Stone. Also, we were there.
Leaving the question of ‘What do you love to binge watch’ to literally everyone else, we instead tasked Netflix’s most bankable assets with the red carpet chore of pitching us their dream TV project as if we were their programming overlords, with mixed results.
