Watch: mX’s “Here’s Looking At You” Rendered In Real Life

“Looking At You” is a six part web series which turns mX column “Here’s Looking At You” into shorts about longing, loneliness and people who think anonymous compliments are a good way to engage strangers on public transport (who are these people????). Like Craiglist’s “missed connections” but with lower instances of murder, the section lets commuters court other commuters to whom they are attracted to but reluctant to approach and is known for sweating LOLs and desperation. Filmmakers Matt Cleaves and George Clipp do their best to portray these distant admirers as normal human beings but its creepiness permeates throughout like the collective odor of a thousand commuters trapped in a poorly ventilated box. Our public transport sucks but this is kind of sweet.
