We were introduced to Kristin Wiig‘s skill for capturing psychological dysfunction in Bridesmaids, and in new movie Girl Most Likely she ups the stakes to clinical standards as a psychiatric unit case who is forced into the care of her self-interested mother, played by the always great Annette Bening.
In the movie Wiig stars as hapless playwright Imogene who stages a suicide attempt in a bid to win back an ex-boyfriend only to find herself forced back with eccentric mother Zelda in her New Jersey home. There she discovers her mother’s strange lover (Matt Dillon) and a mysterious boarder (Glee‘s Darren Criss). Cue meaningful life lessons in unexpected places.
Girl Most Likely is due out in July.
