Watch: Jason Segel’s New Muppets Movie Trailer

If you ever think you may have come in contact with Satan, the best way to test whether you’re dealing with the real-deal Old Scratch and not some wannabe imposter is to ask them if they like The Muppets, because the only person who doesn’t have a warm place in their heart for Kermit and his furry cohorts has got to be from the pits of hell.

Jim Henson’s lovable puppets have starred in various feature films over the years, the most recent of which have been kinda lacking (Muppets in Space), so we were thrilled to hear that writing duo Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller, the team behind Forgetting Sarah Marshall, were dusting the franchise off and giving it a new lease on life.

With Flight of the Conchords‘ co-creator/director James Bobin taking the helm and fellow Conchords alum Bret McKenzie providing the songs, you just can’t help but expect great things; throw in a leading cast of Segel, Amy Adams, Rashida Jones and Chris Cooper, with cameos by Ricky Gervais, Alan Arkin, Billy Crystal, Zach Galifianakis and Jean-Claude Van Damme among others, and you’re virtually counting the days til this thing drops into theatres on November 23, 2011.

Here’s the first official trailer, which has been edited to resemble a fake rom-com, punnily titled “Green With Envy”.
