Watch Footage of Hugh Jackman & Anne Hathaway From ‘Les Miserables’

Everyone gather around, please – actor announcement. Weeks after debuting her closely cropped Sinead O’Connor locks fresh (or, more aptly, ridden with tuberculosis) from the set of Tom Hooper’s musical adaptation of Les Miserables, behind-the-barricade-scene footage has emerged of Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman’s (SPOILER ALERT) ghosts (BECAUSE THEIR CHARACTERS DIE) singing the finale number ‘Do You Hear The People Sing?’ and the result is stirring.

Set photos of the barely recognisable cast members have been surfacing for weeks now, so the footage is the first of its kind for the much-anticipated super musical, with a cast that includes Jackman, Hathaway, Russell Crowe, Helena Bonham Carter, Sacha Baron Cohen and Eddie Redmayne. Poor Anne – whose had to lose a lot of weight as part of her role and is apparently subsisting on less than 500 calories a day – looks really hungry though, non?

In other Jackmanews (news about Hugh Jackman), the sixth addition to the X-Men franchise, The Wolverine is set to shoot in Sydney in July with a budget of $80 million, creating more than 720 jobs for cast and crew, and as many as 1,200 extras. Jackman said “I couldn’t be more excited to return to Australia to film the next chapter in the Wolverine saga, thanks to the significant support from the federal and NSW governments. It will be great to work with the highly talented crew and to provide employment opportunities to so many people across all levels of the industry. Not to mention, [wife] Deb and I will get to spend some time with the family back in Australia.”

That’s all wonderful, however, neither of these news items are going to be as joyous as the last time Jackman and Hathaway teamed up via the art of song. At least you know they’ve both got the pipes for it.
