WATCH: Bill Murray Belts Out A Ramshackle ‘Bare Necessities’ On ‘Kimmel’

Here at PEDESTRIAN.TV, we strive to bring ya the objectively perfect vestiges of your youth – CheezTV and Nickelodeon, anyone? – while also standing at the razor-sharp edge of modern pop-culture.

That’s what makes this one so bizarre. On an immediate level, the idea of a new The Jungle Book is weird and anathema. It leaves us with some kind of cloying unease. Like, really? Is this really a thing that needs to happen? As we said, some things are objectively perfect and needn’t be meddled with in 2016.
I mean, seriously.

Alternatively… Bill Murray is in the new CGI rendition, and he’s one of about three human beings we can collectively give the benefit of the doubt.

Embodying the goofiness of that Garfield movie with the pastel sensitivity of his karaoke-bellowing turn in Lost In Translation, Murray and co-star Neel Sethi gave a lovable, impromptu and ramshackle rendition of The Bare Necessities on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Is it old? Yeah. Is it new? Yeah. Does it give us hope that maybe, just maybe, the newie won’t be an overblown disaster? Well… yeah. It’s Bill fucking Murray.
