As the ‘Game of Thrones‘ S7 premiere draws ever closer, relive every single notable death via this extremely good and clever hand-drawn flip book.
German artist Hannes Sommer painstakingly drew ever single death in one notebook, and then in one take managed to reanact the deaths for the camera, via paint and fire and and cool little fiddly bits.
… and ending with the Sept massacre (the High Sparrow and Mace, Loras and Margaery Tyrell, plus a few thousande non-notable characters, in a wildfire explosion).
Alright – technically it’s not in chronological order, as Tommen Baratheon died after the Sept exploded, but when actual pyrotechnics become involved, you can forgive the artist for a little creativity.
As several commenters pointed out – nicely, for once – Sommer accidentally misattributed Roose Bolton‘s death to stabbing when he was in fact poisoned, but you can’t win ’em all. Sidenote: ‘Game of Thrones’ is starting to sound more and more like a game of Cluedo taken too goddamn far.
Sommer reckons the whole thing took him about 150 hours, and we can absolutely believe it.
