WATCH: A New Empire Rises In The Brand New ‘Narcos’ Season 3 Teaser

Season two of the gritty cocaine trafficking drama Narcos ended with the death of drug kingpin Pablo Escobar, but the series itself is far from over, with new episodes set to premiere on September 1. Netflix gave us our first proper look at the new season today, and it teases all the mayhem you could want.
The new episodes explore the rise of the Cali Cartel, who, at the height of their power, were said to control 90% of the world’s cocaine market. Per the official plot synopsis:
“In a post-Pablo Escobar world, those final words spoken in the last season of the Netflix original series Narcos foreshadow the upcoming season’s pivot into the corrupt, powerful and wildly profitable world of Colombia’s Cali Cartel – the biggest drug lords you’ve probably never heard of. Now that the bloody hunt for Pablo Escobar has ended, the DEA turns its attention to the richest drug trafficking organization in the world: the Cali Cartel. Led by four powerful godfathers, this cartel operates much differently than Escobar’s, preferring to bribe government officials and keep its violent actions out of the headlines.”

Pedro Pascal returns as DEA Agent Javier Peña, although Boyd Holbrook‘s Agent Steve Murphy, who has not been featured in any of the promotional materials for the new episodes, has confirmed he won’t be coming back. That said, enjoy the teaser below:
