Wanna Know Something Fetch? The ‘Mean Girls’ Musical Is Finally Happening

Ugh, this story has drawn on as long as the rumours that Damien is like, too gay to function.
Like, raise your hand if you’ve ever felt victimised by the ongoing rumours about the ‘Mean Girls’ musical.
But hey – we’ve waited this long, so a little longer won’t kill us. At least now, we have confirmation!
*drumroll*

Yes, the stage musical of Tina Fey‘s much adored 2004 coming-of-age film is 100% taking to the stage next year.
It’s starting off in Washington DC, which many are finding to be a strange choice. However, when a play is destined for Broadway, it’ll often play elsewhere first as a tester.
While we still don’t know cast details, we know that the show will be a collab between Fey’s husband, composer Jeff Richmond and Broadway’s ‘Legally Blonde‘ lyricist Nell Benjamin. The iconic comedian has previously said that she has no plans to reprise her role as Ms. Norbury in the production.
Fey told the Tribeca Film Festival crowd that ‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt‘ star Ellie Kemper’s pregnancy had given her a chance to work on it:
“We’re working on the musical adaptation, and thanks to Ellie Kemper’s pregnancy, we have this whole summer to work on it.”
Fey also laughed that Broadway will see the musical in “in 2027… whenever Hamilton closes.”
It was announced today because right now in the US, it is ‘Mean Girls’ Day – October 3rd.

SO. GODDAMN. FETCH.
