Vincent Gallo Interview: Spike Jonze, Sofia Coppola, Wes Anderson “Suck”.

Vincent Gallo has accomplished some fairly major achievements in his career, the most obvious of which is convincing Chloe Sevigny to have on-camera sexy times with him; but his outrageous candor and absolute disregard for self-censoring is even greater.

Among the more remarkable comments he’s made is calling legendary film critic Roger Ebert a “fat pig with the physique of a slave trader” before wishing colon cancer upon him when Ebert called Gallo’s infamous movie The Brown Bunny the worst film in the history of Cannes. That’s just the tip of the iceberg.

A lost interview – more of a taped conversation really – with Gallo has been unearthed on Hitari Takano’s website and is one of the rarest celebrity conversations/interview ever. Based on content.

He’s offensive, swears constantly, thinks virtually every actor or director in America “sucks”, is kind of anti-semitic…

He talks for close to five minutes about whether or not Julia Roberts and her estranged brother Eric Roberts had sex.

He makes some observations on the new wave of American film makers:

Steven Soderbergh sucks.”

Wes Anderson sucks”.

Spike Jonze sucks bad. I’ve known Spike Jonze since he was 11 years old and he’s a rich jew from the upper east side. He’s embarrassing as a BMXer and he’s embarrassing as a skateboarder. He’s the biggest fraud out there. If you bring him to a party he’s the least interesting person at the party, he’s the person who doesn’t know anything. He’s the person who doesn’t say anything funny, interesting, intelligent… He’s a pig piece of shit.”

Sofia coppola is a parasite just like her fat pig father was”.

There’s also his thoughts of the classic American directors:

“I wouldn’t work for Martin Scorsese for $10 million. He hasn’t made a good film in 25 years. I would never work with an egomaniac has-been.”

“I don’t relate to any drug addict or alcoholic” – when asked about what he has in common with Dennis Hopper.

I thought The Departed was pretty good, but it’s awesome to finally hear someone bitching about Spike Jonze rather than pissing their pants with glee. Not that Spike isn’t amazing – because he is. But just to hear a totally different opinion is really refreshing.
